A New Abergavenny Artwork by Jeremy Thomas

Local artist, Jermey Thomas has shared with us his latest artwork; a beautifully detailed ink drawing of Abergavenny landmarks, woven together into an Escher-esque landscape. Jeremy tells us a little more about it:

“It has been a busy time since I last had work printed in the Abergavenny Focus. Since Christmas I have been working almost exclusively in inks. My first project of 2018 was to illustrate a poem I wrote, entitled, Yesterday the Sun Shone Brightly. The poem explored the theme of birth, life and rebirth. Each illustration was A6 in size and represented a different line from the poem. I enjoyed the process of ink drawing so much that I decided to carry on with it.

Over the Summer I have been working on an A2 image of Abergavenny. The planning process alone took a couple of weeks and the inking took just under two months. The image contains over a hundred different landmarks and a few other little things to look for too; like the kingfisher at castle meadows and the Gobannium Cup. Details of where to see my recent work can be found on my website, www.jeremythomasart.co.uk, but If you’d like to take a proper look at the new Abergavenny image then pop in to Framed By John or come and see me in the studio gallery at Claremont House in Nevill Street.”
