CABAN SGRIBLIO

The FREE Caban Sgriblio creative writing project for ages 12-18 will be held in Brecon Library every Thursday afternoon. Each weekly session will develop participants’ creative writing skills and confidence in a supportive, collaborative and relaxed environment. The workshops will consist of writing exercises designed to challenge and inspire writers; the chance to read, discuss and be inspired by poems, other works of writing and art; and plenty of opportunity to write, develop and share work produced during the sessions. The workshops will encourage creativity and individual voice while exploring the local landscape, culture and own experience.

Abergavenny Arts Festival
Jun 29 – Jul 1 all-day

Celebrating the arts in their broadest sense, the festival aims to be as inspiring, inclusive and affordable as possible. The Festival will showcase amateur and professional artists from the vibrant local arts scene as well as inviting some exciting talent and interest from further afield.

Our programme includes paintings, dance, drawing, sculpture, jewellery, collage, felting, theatre, photography, performance, film, poetry, pottery, procession, ceramics, music and comedy as well as site-responsive art, choirs singing, street art, knitting and some experimental art work. We’ll also be displaying the results of several competitions. There may be some surprises too!

As well as exhibitions and performances, there will be plenty of opportunities to ‘have a go’ with workshops and short ‘make it/take it’ sessions. To keep us all fed and watered, there are lots of excellent cafes, pubs and restaurants to visit and we hope also to feature some delicious street food with locally sourced produce.
