This month we would like to convey our thanks to the Lottery players of Abergavenny!
We are delighted to announce that Abergavenny Community Centre has received a grant of £5000 from the Big Lottery’s Awards for All to install professionally managed, secure WiFi throughout the Centre’s premises at the former Park Street Infants School. This is a significant step in modernising our building and providing the facilities that individuals, groups and organisations expect, now. At the centre we want to encourage greater numbers of ‘older people’ to get on-line, and to help us do this, we are enlisting the help of two young Air Cadets who are volunteering with the Centre as part of their individual plans for achieving their Duke of Edinburgh, Gold Awards. Pick up the phone if you want help.
There has been another exciting development at the Abergavenny Community Centre, with the addition of a 16 seat mini bus! The community mini bus recently passed hands after its previous owners, JIGSAW, retired and disbanded after years of service to local families and children. The community bus is a valuable, shared-resource and already well-utilised, so we are pleased to be its new custodians, and look forward to many new opportunities and challenges that it brings. Will you drive for us?
In closing, there is one last celebration in the form of a new partner for the Community Centre. Tools For Self Reliance Cymru has relocated their sewing machine repair workshop, where they service the machines before sending them to women’s groups in Tanzania. Come and talk to them.
