We’re really excited that, for some of you, this is the first issue of the Focus that you will have seen! The South Powys Focus has been established since 2014 and up until now has reached 6,000 homes in the area. From this issue onwards, the magazine will be coming out every other month and will reach a whopping 13,000 individual homes. If you’re one of the 7,000 households who have not seen or read our magazine before – welcome! We hope you enjoy what we have to offer and that you will support the local businesses that advertise within our pages.
At the time of going to press Storm Dennis had wreaked untold havoc on many local towns and villages. Our thoughts are with all of those people affected who now have to rebuild their lives and livelihoods in the wake of these unprecedented floods. In spite of the damage, it’s so heartwarming to see our community come together as one to offer the help and support to those in need. Community spirit, often claimed to be diminishing on a day by day basis, is truly alive and well here. People have pulled together in so many different ways to assist those worst affected in getting back on their feet.
When I compile the magazine every month, I am always so heartened to see the variety and quantity of the fabulous events going on in our area. A friend of mine, recently here on a weekend trip from London, was amazed by the thriving music, art and creative scene that exists in our little pocket of Wales. You need look no further than our events pages to see evidence of it. So much to choose from.
This issue we’re focusing on Education in all its forms and have some lovely articles for you to get stuck into. You never know, they may inspire you to start learning something new! There is a lovely local Spring walk to enjoy, a recipe from the wonderful Valentine Warner, and all manner of events taking place to pop in your diary.
