Nappiness!

April 9th, 2020

8 Million Nappies go to Landfill in the UK Every Single Day!

There is growing awareness of the problems that come with our disposable culture. Single use items are convenient in the short term but increasingly we realise that this is not a sustainable way of living for our generation or those to come.

Cloth nappies are a good example of how we can reuse again and again instead of throwing away and buying new.

Nappiness is a cloth nappy library in Abergavenny run by volunteers who are passionate about cloth nappies and helping others to benefit from them. We have a range of styles, sizes and brands of nappies to suit all bottoms and budgets!

Using cloth nappies does save money compared to using disposables, particularly if used for more than one child. However the initial outlay can be high. The choice online can also be overwhelming if you don’t know what you are looking for.

The benefit of borrowing from a library before you buy is that you can try a range of nappies on your child to decide which is best for you and your family. Our experience is that families are much more likely to be successful in using cloth nappies long term that way.

The service is free of charge, though obviously we ask for the nappies back in a condition which means they can be loaned out to other families. We can give advice on washing, drying, fitting and choosing nappies – all tailored to your situation.
